Australian Light Aircraft Championships 2011
Australian Light Aircraft Championships 2011 RESULTS!! ,I wonder how many Members are aware of the wonderful efforts made by allL our Competitors in this year's ALAC's? I thought I might report to all that;-1.     Out of 9 teams in the Federation Trophy ( i.e. the best club team in Australia for 2011),  Royal Newcastle Aero Club came 3rd, which is a wonderful achievement, as 2 Members of our Team had never competed  before!  Congratulations to you all!!  2.   In the Overall Champion Pilot Trophy, our so hard working Club Captain came 4th out of 12!!   Congratulations Dave!! When one considers the amount of hard work Dave did in preparing the Aerodrome, the buildings, and in Catering, with his wonderful teams of members, he should have been too tired even to compete!!! What an achievement! 3.   In the Forced Landing Championship competition, out of 28 entries, Dave Kunkel came 4th!!   Our first lady competitor for many years Emily Alder came 10th, a simply magnificent effort,      Emily! and KEN LADD-HUDSON came 16th !!!   Excellent achievement, Ken!!                        4.  In the Spot Landing Championship competition, out of 34 entries, Dave Kunel came 19th,  Ken Ladd-Hudson came 21st, and Emily alder came 32nd!! That's a wonderful effort, too, as both Ken and Emily had never competed     before!! 5.  In the Streamer Cut Championship competition, Dave Kunkel came 8th out of 16 entries!!  Dave is already an Australian Silver Medallist in the Forced Landing from when he competed at Towoomba    some years back. 6. In the Formation Flying Championship competition our excellent team competed against the 2010 Australian and New Zealand Champion teams.. Those team have hundreds of hours of flying together, and are     extremely good at that skill! It is my delight to say that our team of NeilCromarty as leader (our Club President surely does lead by example!!!) our recently qualified Gordon Southwood flying number two,    and our very experienced John Wholohan, Already an Australian Champion, flying number three gained another Bronze Medal and were beaten out of second (Silver) by only three points!! These results are commendable indeed, and the Team Members put in a great effort and spent a lot of money doing so! The Club should be very proud of them! I suggest that all Members compliment and thank them when in contact with them?  These ALAC's were as wonderfully run as any I have attended, and that is a good number since 1974!!! We should thank most sincerely and congratulate all who assisted, and especially our President, our Club Captain, and the volunteers who helped so many times!!  CFI Anthony Moor managed a most Professionally presented event, and I am sure the Board will highly commend him in the very near future!! Lyn, Tracey, Bob Davies and Nick Sim worked way above their job-descriptions all week, and those who did not attend would have been so delighted at the fellowship between all Aviators, and especially from those Kiwis, who were just too good for us "on the day"!
