Flying Training

Learn to fly with the Royal Newcastle Aero Club, one of Australia’s most experienced flying schools – proudly producing pilots since 1928.

Royal Newcastle Aero Club offers flight training from Recreational through to Private and Commercial Pilot levels as well as advanced training including  Emergency Manoeuvre Training, Aerobatics, Night-flying, Tail Wheel and Formation Flying.

Our Club is located in the picturesque lower Hunter Valley, our training area covers some of the Valley’s most beautiful bushland and countryside.  Our privately owned airfield has two bitumen sealed runways and a challenging grass cross strip.

You can begin your training at the Recreational level and progress to pursue a full career in aviation, as so many of our graduate pilots have done since we began operating nearly 90 years ago.

Royal Newcastle Aero Club operates 7 days per week and encourages you to take your first step to achieving your aviation goal by taking a Trial Instructional Flight.  This is a thirty minute flight where, after a pre flight briefing, your take the controls of the aircraft.  This is where you ‘get the feel’ of flying a light aircraft, and in a relaxed atmosphere you can ask your instructor all the questions you have about learning to fly. It is that easy – WOW!
