A great day was had by all starting with perfect weather for a flyout to the Tri Club Competition at Kempsey. Three aircraft departed from Maitland - the Pioneer, the Archer and a Cessna 172 to compete against Manning River Aero Club, Hastings River Aero Club and Kempsey Aero Club. As well as a flying competition some Austers were able to be viewed in a nearby hanagar. One of these has just been fully restored by a local pilot - it is absolutely magnificent, better than showroom condition. The flying conditions on the day were perfect, clearances available from RNAC to Kempsey - just great for low hour pilot havigation. The competition inclded a Blind Circuit, a Glide off the blind circuit, a River Bash and a Flapless Spot Landing, with just 3 competitors from RNAC testing their skills against the opposing Aero Clubs. We must thank our instructor Will Whitelaw for his assistance during the day.
Keep your eyes peeled for the next fly out day - there are a few planned.
